Keeping Johnson University Florida students cool with new ‘Sails’

Shade Systems™ is proud to have designed and manufactured the brand new ‘Sail’ fabric canopy system for Johnson University Florida in Kissimmee, Florida. JUFL was looking for the ideal touch to complement its newest buildings on campus, and after doing much research and seeing the diverse lineup of shade structures the company designs, engineers and manufactures, they entrusted Shade Systems with this important project.

The ‘Sail’ canopies are now part of JUFL’s newly built “The Commons” dining area, which features a buffet-style dining hall, study areas and a café with outdoor seating and a landscaped plaza. It was important for the university to protect its students and staff from the sun, while also providing a comfortable place for them to unwind, socialize and study. The refreshing ‘Sail’ system and its creatively placed fabrics provide a pleasant and much-needed break from the unrelenting Florida sun.

JUFL officials said they are exceptionally satisfied and happy with the ingenious and colorful ‘Sail’ structures, as well as impressed by the quality of Shade Systems products and service. “The reaction from first-time visitors is uniformly the word ‘Wow!’,” said Michael Chambers, JUFL Executive Vice President. He said the university is eager to use Shade Systems structures again for future projects.
