City of Fort Lauderdale continues roll-out of Shade Systems^™ Mega Spans at various parks

Over the last several months, Shade Systems is proud to have provided the City of Fort Lauderdale with its shade structures at multiple city parks.  These have included Guthrie-Blake, Lauderdale Manors, Coral Ridge, and Gore Betz Parks, among others.

But the flagship Shade Systems installation in Fort Lauderdale has got to be the dual 60’x60′ Mega Spans installed at Florence Hardy Park in the shadows of downtown’s high rises.  The City undertook a major renovation at this site, including a new pavilion and the aforementioned Shade Systems Mega Spans to provide much-needed shade for the two large playgrounds.

They City needed VERY large shade coverage over these two expansive playgrounds, so it turned to Shade Systems and spec’ed its giant Mega Spans.  Not many shade manufacturers have the design, engineering, and fabrication capability to span 60′ clear between columns with no obstructions.  When looking at these huge shade canopies, it’s hard to believe each covers 3,600 s.f. – the size of a large home – and is supported by only 4 posts at the corners.  Watch our Factory Tour video to find out what goes into the design and manufacture of our products at our Ocala, Florida plant.

The City is a big believer in sun safety, which means providing cooling shade at its public facilities.
