Shade Systems^™ provides its framed ‘Sail’ system for new elementary school

The newly constructed Mill Creek Elementary School in historic St. Augustine, Florida, is prepared to protect its children from the sun’s harmful U.V. rays with a brand new framed ‘Sail’ system from Shade Systems.

This imaginative multi-tiered Sail system with integral steel support frame was designed, engineered, and manufactured by Shade Systems at its Ocala, Florida plant, and installed by the Shade Systems field crew at Mill Creek Elementary to provide cooling shade in the school’s common courtyard area.

The St. John’s County School District, through its consulting architect, Mr. Tom Jennings of Schenkel Schultz Architecture, selected the Shade Systems ‘Sail’ design for this high-profile project due to our stringent quality standards, design capabilities, and experience with similar demanding shade cover projects nationwide. One of the key features of the Shade Systems product cited for this project was its innovative Single-Point connection system, which allows for easy removal and reattachment of the shade canopies in the event of hurricane.

Mr. Jennings of Schenkel Schultz Architecture commented: “I was at the site last week and the shade system looks great! Great job! Your engineering staff really knows its stuff and your attention to details is what really set Shade Systems apart from other shade manufacturers…” which were being considered for this project.

Shade Systems ‘Sails’ such as the one pictured are engineered to withstand up to 90-mph winds with the canopies attached, and the frames are engineered to 150-mph. High quality technical specification features include electrostatically applied powder-coat finish on all structural steel components in the customer’s choice of colors and stainless steel fastening hardware.
