NEW Shade Systems^™ canopies in Dove Park revitalization contribute to 300% attendance jump.

Dove Park’s newfound popularity can be attributed to the recent addition of Dove Waterparks, a recreational area within the park, offering families a much needed and welcome break from the hot summer Texas sun with cooling shade by Shade Systems strategically stationed in waterplay areas.

A previously under-utilized 10 acre community park, Dove Park has dynamically grown into a signature park in the City of Grapevine promoting social interaction and physical fitness.

Kevin Mitchell, Assistant Director of Parks for the City of Grapevine, cited the significance of integrating shade structures within Dove Waterparks,  “People are noticeably spending more time in shaded areas of the pool.”  He then added,  “and parents are especially appreciative of the shade canopies that protect their kids from the sun.”  Besides functionality, more park dynamics, and patron comfortability, all resulting in increased visitation, Mr. Mitchell also commented that the visual appeal of the Shade Systems structures added a nice resort-feel to the park.

Nick Smith of La Terra Studio, landscape designer and specifier of Shade Systems for the Dove Pool shade structures, predicts incorporating shade structures in active areas of parks as becoming a trend that is much needed. He expressed, “Given the option, people will migrate towards shade during hot temperatures versus being out in the open.”

Mr. Smith was very happy with the Shade Systems structures:  “The shade structures look great. They help create atmosphere and extend utilization of the environment.”  And he went on to explain,  “We are also impressed that Shade Systems have a longer warranty for their fabrics and metals compared to other shade manufacturers. It was very easy working with the Shade Systems team. Communication was smooth and everything worked out seamlessly.”
